The Skaters Coalition for Concrete (SCC) is a community based, not for profit, group of skateboarding supporters dedicated to working with the Town of Pagosa Springs in facilitating the construction of a concrete skateboard park in Pagosa Springs.
The location for the new skate park will be in Yamaguchi park near the Terrazzo structure, off of South 5th street. The town has allocated 14,000 square feet of land for skate park development. Town Council recently granted $30,000 to be added to the $50,000 that was granted from Archuleta County in 2009 to build the first part of the park this summer for $80,000, making it clear that the Town government will not contribute any other funding for further expansion of the skate park. This will replace the current facility at South Park which is beyond it’s useful life. Brad Seidlecki of Pillar Designs is currently working on an updated design to fit within this budget, somewhere around 3000 square feet. The Pagosa Springs Youth Center has come on board to aid the SCC in the form of raising public awareness for the need of a better skate park and also to help in future fundraising to add to what is built this summer.
